How Municipal Court Warrants Work
City courts in Arkansas hear ordinance violations and state misdemeanors inside city limits, and they have since become departments of District Court, as the Arkansas Judiciary explains. In Logan County, that means Logan District Court runs Booneville, Paris, and Magazine departments. So a "city warrant" often describes where a case started, while a District Court clerk actually keeps the docket. District Court also takes traffic matters, misdemeanors, preliminary felony steps, and limited civil work. When a warrant issues, the judge orders it and the clerk records the action. Police or the Sheriff may serve it, and detention staff handle booking or release where that applies. Each office plays a separate part. No single office in Logan County keeps a complete public municipal warrant list, so treat any one check as one piece of the puzzle.
Logan County City Courts Became District Departments
This city-to-district change explains a mismatch people in Logan County often hit. Someone remembers dealing with city police, then learns the case phone belongs to a District Court clerk. The Arkansas Judiciary city-court page lays out the legal structure behind that transition, and the Twelfth District plan names the local departments.
The official page shows court-system structure only, not a Logan County warrant roster or any individual case.
City-originated case: an ordinance or misdemeanor matter that began within a municipality.
District department: the court office administering the case after the city-court transition.
Failure to appear: a missed required court response or appearance that may lead to further court action.
Alias bench warrant: the wording Arkansas forms use for a court-ordered warrant issued after a stated trigger.
Logan County sources show no single stand-in term for a capias. When you call the clerk, quote the exact words on your citation, notice, docket, or order.
Municipal Courts Across Logan County
Each town in Logan County takes a different path. Booneville runs its own Police Department alongside a Logan District Court department. Paris lists a police contact in the 2024 amnesty notice plus a District Court phone. Magazine police work under a Sheriff interlocal deal, and Magazine has its own named District Court clerk. Scranton relies on county law enforcement, and Subiaco posts no city police or court portal.
| City | Court or city route | Likely warrant matters | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booneville | Police and Logan District Court | City, traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, FTA | Police 479-675-3508; court 479-675-4929 |
| Paris | Police and Logan District Court | City misdemeanor, traffic, FTA | Police 479-963-2600; court 479-963-3792 |
| Magazine | Sheriff-supervised police and District Court | Traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, FTA | Court 479-969-8550; Sheriff 479-963-3271 |
| Scranton | County Sheriff and relevant District Court | Route by citation and issuing court | Sheriff 479-963-3271 |
| Subiaco | County route; no verified city portal | Route by case and issuing court | Sheriff 479-963-3271 |
Booneville City Warrants in Logan County Were Excluded
The March 2024 Logan and Paris misdemeanor-warrant amnesty notice left Booneville city warrants out on purpose. That exclusion is worth remembering, because it shows a county announcement may not reach every city case. The event also excluded felonies and several named charge categories, so it was no standing recall policy. For Booneville itself, city law-enforcement questions go to Booneville Police at 497 E Main Street, Suite B, 479-675-3508. Court questions go to Booneville District Court at 461 E 5th, 479-675-4929, where Mary Jones serves as Chief District Court Clerk. The Sheriff has mentioned a small Booneville city jail, but that facility is not the court docket and not a public warrant list for Logan County.
Logan County Municipal Warrant Checks
Start with the citation, summons, payment-plan record, or case number in hand. Search the Arkansas public case portal for the docket and which court holds the case. Then call the matching District Court department or city police route in Logan County. The portal has no warrant filter, so a blank result still needs direct confirmation from the office.
- Read the city, court name, case or citation number, alleged missed date, and exact warrant term from the document.
- Call Paris, Booneville, or Magazine District Court if the case falls within a named Logan department.
- Call Booneville or Paris Police for a city-police issue, or use the Sheriff route for Magazine, Scranton, Subiaco, service, or detention questions.
- Ask the clerk whether the current docket shows issuance, service, recall, a new date, bond, or payment terms.
- If a public record is still needed, direct a narrow Arkansas FOIA request to the identified custodian and state the case and date range.
ACIC is not a portal the public can search for Logan County warrants. A trained agency runs its hot-file process, and an agency must confirm any wanted-record hit against the underlying warrant.
Paris City Warrants Had a Separate Logan Route
The 2024 event split the routes inside one county seat. Paris misdemeanor warrants went to Paris Police, while Logan County District Court misdemeanor warrants went to the Sheriff or Detention Center in Paris. The city and the issuing court both matter.
| Paris Police | 479-963-2600, documented for the event-specific city route. |
|---|---|
| Paris District Court | 25 W Walnut and 479-963-3792 for the district-court contact. |
| Logan County Sheriff | 201 South Lowder Street and 479-963-3271 for county law-enforcement routing. |
| Circuit Clerk | 25 W Walnut and 479-963-2164 for circuit case records. |
That event is history, not a standing invitation to walk in. Ask the responsible Logan County office for current instructions first. Consider counsel if an arrest or surrender is possible.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
Logan County posts no public city-warrant roster. What a court record can still show, once you reach it, is the court and division, the State of Arkansas caption, the defendant, the criminal case number, any missed date, the order, bond or appearance terms, and later docket events.
| Case number | Keep the full value, which may include a CR case marker. |
|---|---|
| Issuing department | Distinguishes Booneville, Paris, Magazine, Circuit Court, or another jurisdiction. |
| Trigger | May be FTA, failure to pay, surety action, or another order. |
| Service instruction | May direct clerk delivery to the Sheriff or other law-enforcement handling. |
| Current court action | Could include recall, a new appearance, payment-plan action, or bond. |
Magazine City Warrants and the Interlocal Police Arrangement
The Sheriff's own page states that Magazine Police runs under a March 2022 interlocal agreement with Sheriff supervision. An August 2025 amendment added a full-time Magazine deputy for evening patrol and school-resource duty, plus part-time roles. That sets Magazine apart from a town with a fully separate police warrant unit. For police routing in Logan County, call the Sheriff at 479-963-3271. Case, traffic, ordinance, failure-to-appear, and payment questions belong with Magazine Chief District Court Clerk Vicki Smith, P.O. Box 367, Magazine, AR 72943, 479-969-8550. Magazine publishes no public municipal-warrant database, no direct city court portal, no standard recall fee, and no universal bond schedule.
Clearing a Logan County Municipal Court Warrant
Work through the issuing court, not a generic online payment portal. Ask what a Logan County municipal warrant actually needs: a new appearance, a clerk filing, a payment plan, bond, attorney action, or judicial recall. The Arkansas eTraffic citation and plan portals cover participating courts. A payment receipt alone does not confirm the warrant was recalled.
Before acting: Confirm the court, current warrant status, amount, new date, and personal-appearance rule. Logan County cities set no shared recall fee or bond schedule; each court states its own terms.
If detention or surrender seems possible, talk with an attorney first and call ahead. The Sheriff's detention page explains visiting rules for bonding or release in Logan County, but an unplanned walk-in is not promised to clear a city warrant. Emergencies go to 911.
Why the Logan County Roster Is Not a City Warrant Check
The jail roster shows custody details: booking number, date, charges, bond, and a current or released label. That is not a warrant check. A Booneville, Paris, Magazine, Scranton, or Subiaco warrant can exist without the person appearing in Logan County custody, and a roster entry may sit apart from later court action.
Myth and fact: Not finding a name on the Sheriff roster or website does not clear a municipal warrant; only the issuing court and responsible agency can confirm status.
Scranton's official site places law enforcement with the Sheriff, and Subiaco has no police portal of its own. Those gaps send residents to county and court channels in Logan County. Once you identify the record and the office holding it, a focused public-record request works.
